Dietrich Bonhoeffer as a Christian Martyr

Up until the early 1960s, the remembrance of Protestant resistance was greatly influenced by the idea of martyrdom for Christ. The memorial plaque dedicated in Flossenbürg in 1953 calls Dietrich Bonhoeffer a witness to Jesus Christ among his brethren, thus upholding the tradition of martyrdom.
