Pastor Krause preached his inaugural sermon in the local church in Zingst on May 1, 1934. Once a theological seminary of the Confessing Church had been set up at Zingsthof near Zingst in the spring of 1935, Krause soon came into contact with its director Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer put together the worship service in the church in Zingst on June 6, 1935; he preached on Psalm 42: “As a hart longs for flowing streams, so longs my soul for thee, O God.” The intercessory prayer, including petitions for detained pastors of the Confessing Church, received particular attention.
