On July 20, 1944

Schröder already mentioned the the assassination attempt of July 20, 1944 in a radio segment on “Germany’s Women in the Struggle for Peace” on July 28, 1944 and pointed out that the Nazi regime was also turning against its own people as a result. In a sermon on August 20, he called the ringleaders of July 20 serious Christians aware of their responsibility. They had given the signal to rise up. From this, Schröder drew his appeal: The immediate future will demand the same decision, the same courage, the same struggle from every German, from every Christian in Germany.
