Circular Letters

The Confessing Church congregation in Dahlem continued to consider Gollwitzer to be its pastor, preacher and theological advisor even after his expulsion from Berlin. It asked him for counsel in parish affairs in hundreds of letters. Gollwitzer continued to take part in parish life with letters to the congregation or individual congregational members. His circular letters were widely circulated in Dahlem: They were enthusiastically copied, passed along from congregational member to congregational member and read aloud at worship services and in various parish circles.
