In a letter of March 1935, Kurt Sauer recounted how Zingst parish pastor Krause’s evenings of discussion were met with opposition from the NSDAP training instructor. A complaint was filed against Krause but the attempt to forbid the evenings of discussion failed. Krause sought to use these evenings to make the German Christian’s heresies clear to his parishioners. Local party dignitaries also considered this to be an attack on the Nazi weltanschauung and mistrusted Krause from then on. Krause, however, received much support from both his congregation and the seminarians residing at the theological seminary of the Confessing Church in Zingst until mid-June 1935.
