The German Christians

A group of Protestant National Socialists participated in Prussian church elections as “German Christians” for the first time in the 1932. In the “Richtlinien” (Guidelines), their platform of May 26, 1932, they declared their belief in an affirmative faith in Christ in keeping with one’s kind (Point 4) and in National Socialist racial ideology (Point 7). They also therefore rejected the mission to the Jews (Point 9). The Prussian High Consistory authorized these guidelines as the church’s platform and the German Christians were able to win one third of the seats on congregational councils their very first time around in November of 1932.
