Protest against the Closing of Boarding Schools

Time and again, Wurm resorted to the means of pulpit announcements to make urgent problems known to a larger public. Since the Nazi state strove to avoid public debates about anti-church measures, he hoped its leadership would make concessions.

In his announcement of August 17, 1941, Wurm made parishioners aware that the opening of four boarding schools announced in newspapers was occurring in the forcibly closed seminaries. He explicitly pointed out that, although the fathers of numerous seminarians as well as hundreds of former students were serving in the field and risking their lives for Germany, all of the protests against the closings with the responsible authorities had remained unsuccessful.
