The phase from 1934-35 to 1939 was characterized by political and economic consolidation of the Nazi state. In terms of foreign policy, Hitler succeeded in getting the Treaties of Versailles gradually amended. Infrastructure construction projects and initially concealed rearmament brought unemployment down. Given its economic and foreign policy successes, the regime enjoyed particularly high support among the populace in this phase.


The manipulation of laws and the judiciary stabilized power. The SS expanded its system of terror further. The increasingly harsh legal measures against Jews did not draw any protest at home.
