Christianity still enjoyed certain privileges and prerogatives under National Socialism as well, which ensued solely from cultural tradition and the Church’s strong position in society. Outwardly calling resistance Christian resistance could therefore be advantageous, even when this might not at all have been the genuine point of departure for one’s own actions.
